This is the first summer- in three years- I'll be in Nashville. The past few sweaty seasons, I've stuck my thumb out in the wind and dissipated like morning mist into the mountains of Colorado. Not this time.
Until recent months, I've experienced the nature of this region as masculine. An energetic demeanor that made me want to put up my guard. But internal changes are bound to resound to the external environment, and I mostly see and feel the south now as feminine: lush, moody, magic, and magnetic. Tennessee is a woman, I am sure of it.
I've had many reasons for calling Nashville home again. One of those being the level of players in this town. Many of them are my friends. Erick Jaskowiak and I had one more studio day to round out the record, and this whole project now feels all the more special with my sweet pals gracing the songs.
A huge thank you to Ryan Musick for sneaking into the studio with us and capturing most of the following photos. Ry's been the guy behind the lens for many of my favorite shots over the years. I couldn't speak more highly of his work.
